Founded in 2006 by two mothers living in Denmark. One Japanese and one Bolivian, their backgrounds differed greatly, however, their common goal was to produce high quality, natural products with simple design, thereby allowing the fabric and craftsmanship to speak for themselves.
Esencia’s products are made from the finest alpaca and llama fibres as well as organic cotton and utilise the craftsmanship of indigenous artisans from the Andes region. The principles of sustainability and fairtrade are of the utmost importance to this label and only suppliers who adhere to these principles are considered when sourcing raw materials.
The simplicity of Japanese design and the integrity of high quality textile production of Bolivia and Peru have been fused together to create a brand which offers the opportunity for socially aware, modern parents to choose beautiful kids clothing and accessories without compromise.

For some inexplicable eason we have come over all Parisian, this season at Mash n Gravy HQ, with the addition of several French labels to our growing family of kids clothing brands.
The latest of which is Talc, a brand which we have long admired but have had difficulty in obtaining. We are delighted to say that our persistance has paid off and we are able to bring you this stunning collection, this season, and going forward.
Talc embraces the soft fabrics and minimalist design of classic children’ pieces, and yet has reinvented timeless pieces by giving them a thoroughly modern twist, through either pattern, colour or detailing.
Enter the beautiful world of Talc and you will want to visit time and time again.

Exaggerated patterns, strong colours and organic shapes are what we have come to love and expect from wonderfully original French Label Bodebo.
Their latest kids clothing collection does not disappoint. These unique and beautiful shapes are the creation of talented designer Ann Ramirez.
Following on from the sell out ‘My Tights’ in the Autumn/Winter 2010′ collection, Ann has included leggings this season to clash beautifully with the colours and pattern in the labels latest story.

The Buzz around the brand Bobo Choses is incredible right now and here at Mash n Gravy we feel that they can do no wrong.
Since their inception four seasons ago their clever use of sensible muted tones of classic colours juxtaposed with bizarre, often nonsensical graphics has become the Bobo Choses kids clothes brand trademark and has proved to be a winning formula.
We are looking forward to receiving the new collection in the coming weeks but here is a taster for you in the mean time…

The Spring Summer delivery of Imps&Elfs has arrived at Mash n Gravy HQ and the fresh and vibrant colours just leapt out at us as we opened the boxes.
Spring is certainly on it’s way.
With colours officially described as ‘Jelly Red’ and ‘Happy Yellow’ you can just imagine the joyful palette which we are about to bestow upon you.
This season the collection pays tribute to sport. Passive or active, individual or on a team, sports lifestyle or life sportstyle, the definition does not have to be adhered to literally. Whether taking it easy at home or being away on an action packed adventure, Imps&Elfs make the wardrobe selection easy. Comfortable leggings, loose, soft pants tongue in cheek graphics and zingy colours mixed with enough pale and slate grey for the seriously sporty kid.
The cobwebs will be instantly blown away when this kids clothing collection goes online. Keep your eyes peeled…
Famed for their simple, modern, wearable basics, Kidscase are sticking with their winning formula this season.
Increasing their Organic offering to somewhere around 70% of their collection this established label have released another stunning selection of garments in classic colours and retro prints.
For those who eschew the clashing brights of many Scandinavian brands, this is the label for you.

You must certainly have been visiting another planet if you haven’t seen Yo Gabba Gabba! yet.
Airing in the UK on Channel 4 and Nick Jr it quickly became a sensation with parents of small children as it is unlike any other children’s TV show currently available . The cast includes DJ Lance Rock and five characters in soft foam costumes, Plex, Brobee, Foofa, Muno and Toodee.
Unlike most educational children’s shows, Yo Gabba Gabba was not developed by network executives. Instead the show was created by two Southern California fathers who shared a mutual disappointment in kids’ television. They both wanted to design a kids’ show that was both educational and entertaining while featuring real artists and real performers.
Parents have been won over by the show’s retro style, bright colors, simplicity, and entertaining music from many finger on the pulse bands such as The Ting Tings, Cornelius, The Roots, Mos Def, Money Mark, Mix Master Mike (The Beastie Boys) and Weezer, to pluck but a few from the list. Regular guests include Biz Markie, Leslie Hall and artist Mark Mothersbaugh. Guest spots have been filled by actors such as Elijah Wood and Jack Black and Pro Skate Boarder Tony Hawk, which brings us onto the relevance of this post.
The coolest Skate brand in the land – Vans – have been given the licence to produce the official footwear for the show. Here at Mash n Gravy we will have a selection of High Tops and Slip Ons featuring the popular characters, available early Spring.

Beyond the pastel wearing baby stage and bold and colourful graphics demanded by the discerning toddler, the early school years require some careful consideration where wardrobe style and functionality is concerned. Enter, Finger In The Nose. Their Rock n Roll attitude, combined with authenticity and a slice of practicality succesfully unites the look of an adult garment with the need for a child’s comfort.
Exceptionally high quality garments with graphics depicting the things which are pertinent to the 5-10 year kids clothes age group. All tops, long and short sleeve, are made from 100% cotton. As for their denims, they leave nothing to chance. 9oz – 11oz European denim is utilised, with 3% lycra included for comfort. Each pair of denims, regardless of fit is reinforced with nickel free rivets, high quality metal zips, flattened French seams, belt adjustment system, and endless attention to detail.
Scratchy sweaters? No way! Finger In The Nose believe in softness using only Merino and Angora in their sweaters. What better way to reconcile a child with the jumper? Add quirky details such as a thumb hole and we bet that Junior will even ASK to wear a sweater!
Each piece in every collection is studied and controlled to give your child the best quality that they deserve.
Available at Mash n Gravy early 2010.

Last season we hinted at some of the new brands which will be joining us here at Mash “N” Gravy. One of the first this season will be Scotch R’Belle, the little sister of Scotch Shrunk.
After the launch of Maison Scotch – the woman’s collection, last year – the demand for a girls collection, became even stronger. In January 2011 Scotch & Soda will proudly introduce the first girl’s collection – Scotch R’Belle.
‘Rock star diaries of Mademoiselle R’belle’ is delicate and cool at the same time. Think, the LA laidback vibe, sorbet factory pastels, admiral stripes, urban safari, adorable t-shirts and little details that make each garment special.
Scotch R’belle will definitely have the same feel as the Scotch Shrunk boy’s line but with sophistication and femininity. To Scotch & Soda, life is not a competition. It’s not about being the biggest or boldest, but all the same, watch out, Brother!
